Dedicated to the memory of Nora Strand, much loved and will always be remembered.

Anyone who knew Nora will appreciate how difficult it was to find recent pictures of her, as she was always the one behind the camera taking pictures of everyone else!

She arrived on the 16th May 1941, in the middle of Liverpool’s May blitz and after enduring a long fight with congestive heart failure she left us on 16th April 2024, just one month before her 83rd birthday. Thankfully the end was very gentle and peaceful, she was at home with Graham, Emma, David and Jayne at her side and little Alfie, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, asleep beside her. This was exactly the way Mum would have wanted it it happen! From the minute of her diagnosis, Mum made it very clear to us all that she did not want to be parted for us and wanted to end her days at home with the family that she cared about so much. But this was only possible thanks the loving care and support provided by the Thames Hospice’s unique service of hospice at home.

Mum wanted no ‘show’ for her funeral and request that we have a very private service with just Graham, Emma, David and Jayne there. But we appreciate that there are many special people out there who may want to share their love and support both for Nora and us all as a family at this time. To this end we would be so grateful if you could show that support by making a donation in Nora’s memory, so that this magnificent charity, which receives no formal funding, can continue it work to help others end their days in a safe and loving environment.
